“He’s Not Dead Yet” is the true story of one family’s battle against cancer. In the 28 colorful pages of this picture book, a young boy faces the death of his younger brother, and learns more about living. Surprisingly hopeful, and deeply moving, “He’s Not Dead Yet” speaks in rhyme to both children and adults.
From the Authors:
We have had this book on our hearts for over a year. We felt like it was a story we could only tell while we are in this in-between place.
Our son Joel is alive, but terminal. We never imagined we would spend over two years walking the line between life and death. That tightrope walk has changed our family. We have had to check our balance again and again but we have found joy, love, happiness, hope and faith as we kept putting one foot in front of the other. We sincerely hope that this book will change how other people face death.
For the past three years, so many of our friends and family have asked us how they can help us. For the most part, we haven’t known how to respond. We’ve been blessed to receive meals on multiple occasions, and so many people have graciously watched our children while we were at appointments, we even received a chest freezer to put quick meals in when Joel was getting chemotherapy multiple times a week up to 8 hours a day! Still, so many people have wanted to help our family, and we have not known what to tell them. Most of our needs were emotional, not physical. Now, we have a way you can help us. We have poured our heart into this simple book. We want to share this message with as many people as possible. There are times we have been nervous to share Joel’s story because it is still so unfinished but now we really feel ready to tell the world about Joel. Will you help us? Please, spread the word about “He’s not dead yet.”
